2014, 71st annual Golden globe red carpet, best dressed and not so best dressed

This year, sleek hair styles were all over the red carpet, a few of the most stunning women in Hollywood wore the most horrific dresses that I have ever seen- a lot of 90's satin prom dress look a likes. and pregnant women graced the carpet... some better dressed than others. Red, dominated the red carpet! Our favorite celebrities stuck with their favorite designers. Posen, Ralph Loren, and Dior ruled the red carpet, from first time carpet walkers, to award show  veterans.

Top 3 best dressed:

#3 Sofia Vergara

Sofia can show up in a pair of sweats and a Birkenstocks and still be stunning. I am NOT a Posen fan at all! but this Posen dress looked stunning on Sofia. It was simple and showed her girls the appropriate way, and her statement necklace added the perfect pop of color.

#2: Lupita Nyong'o

New comer Nyong'o made her first red carpet appearance one to remember. Nyong'o was stunning in red     which went flawlessly with  her skin tone, In a Ralph Lauren cap dress, with red suede pointed toe heels. I doubt this will be the last we see of her.

Lupita Nyong'o, Golden Globes 2014

#1: Emma Watson.

The effortlessly beautiful Watson had the most original, stunning chic, sexy look on the red carpet. Dior dress illusion with black Dior slacks and blue suede shoes.

With everything that is stunning there is the ugly....

Top # Worse Dressed:

#3 Paula Patton:

Patton is one of the most sexiest women in the entertainment world, she has been to numerous award shows and knows how to dress to show off her assets, but this dress by,Stephanie Rolland, isn't flattering and is was too much! I wish she would have worn something strapless or one shoulder, that is a bold color and a low bun. Hopefully next red carpet event Patton will be back on her sexy A game, and bring her best accessory, husband, Robin Thicke.
2014 Golden Globes
Patton at 2013 golden Globes

#2 Drew Barrymore

Stunning Barrymore is pregnant with 2nd child, and couldn't be happier, but I am not happy at all with her dress by Monique Lhullier. It is just all over the place, and not flattering on anyone!
2014 Golden Globes
2010 Golden Globes in Versace

#1 Zoe Saldana:

In Prabal Gurung, Saldana, almost made this mess of  a dress look great, but it was by far the worst dress on the red carpet. I love you Zoe, and I will never be half as stunning as you are, but why this dress? I Know Gurung is dear friend, but no.

2014 Golden Globes
2013 Oscars in Alexis Mabille Couture

Other Looks of the Carpet:

Elisabeth Moss in J. Mendel

Jennifer Lawrence in Christian Dior Couture

Leslie Mann and Judd Apatow (both) in Dolce and Gabbana
Amy Adams in Valentino
Zooey Deschanel in Oscar De La Renta
Kerry Washington in Balenciaga

Sarah Paulson in Marchesa

 Taylor Schilling in Thakoon

Lily Rabe in George Hobeika
Lena Dunham in Posen
Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney
Tina Fey in Carolina Herrera

With this being the start of the award season, we will have plenty more looks to see! Lets hope these celebrities bring it to the Oscars!
oh and what do you think about Colton Haynes' JLaw impersonation?

71st annual Gloden Globes

Wow  what a night! Some serious surprise winnings, awkward speech a la Jacqueline Bisset, and hilarious jokes via Fey and Poehler. The best joke of the night was hands down:
"And now, like a supermodel's vagina, let's give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio."- Fey

The Skit with Feys love child(Poehler) looking for his father, who is obviously Idris Elba

And Woody Allen not being there to accept his award... I hope he is good health, but he better have a great reason for not showing up!

In case you missed it, here are the Winners... (the X or the ζ represent who I predicted to win-X and who I wanted to win ζ) and my opinions on who/what won. I kept it short and to the point. but seriously Brooklyn nine, nine? where is the eye rolling emoticon when needed.

Who to Watch for at the 71st Golden Globes

The red carpet of pre-award shows is what fuels talk shows for at least two days after the award show airs. What celebrities wear at one award show is what makes us look for them at the next to see if they out did their last get up or disappointed us with a nipple piercing illusion satin Prada dress (Anne Hathaway circa 2013 Oscars). Here are some of the celebrities I am looking forward to see tomorrow night on my small vizio flat screen.
Jennifer Lawrence-  JLaw is in American Hustler which has several nomination, including Lawrence's nomination for best supporting action is a motion picture comedy or musical . Most find it too much to red on the red carpet, but Jennifer pulled it off effortless. With a simple up-do. and minimal jewelry Jennifer looks flawless.
A simple red strapless Dior with a chic thin
black belt.

Kerry Washington- Nominated for playing THE Olivia Pope, Washington, doesn't channel Ms. Pope on the red carpet, she usually keeps is fresh and fun. Washington let her dress do the accessorizing at last year Globes. With only a bracelet, ring and a clutch. The nude mesh and silver beading made her skin tone glow on the red carpet

In Miu Miu.

Tina Fey-  Hosting again this year, Fey only needs to focus on keeping it hilarious again! She isn't about the glitz and glam, but the simplisity nand comfort of the dress, especially on the red carpet, since she will have a more spectacular dress on stage.

In  ankle length creme silk with black lace covering L `Wren Scott
Amy Poehler- The other half of the hilarious co-hosting duo, kept it sleek at last years show. wearing a pant suit that was sexier than your average attorney in Manhattan. Deep neck line, and stunning neck piece to draw your gaze down.

In Stella McCartney
Lena Dunham- I LOVE Lena Dunham, but she doesn't always bring it on the red carpet, so I really hope she BRRRings it! Last year Lena's dress wasn't flattering. The color was totally Lena, but, well see for yourself.  I am not a Zac Posen, put this dress isn't that bad, it just isn't for Lena!
In Zac Posen
Julia Louis Dreyfus- Dreyfus has been to her fair share of award shows, and has had her up and downs with red carpet choices. Last year she was stunning in a Vera Wang chiffon and lance gown. Like her peers keeping it simple with minimal accessories.

Look of the Day photo | Julia Louis-Dreyfus
Since American Horror Story: Coven is nominated along with Jessica Lange, I cannot wait to see Kathy Bates and Angela basset strut the red carpet! lets hope they are there. There are many more red carpet looks that was stunning last year, and some not so stunning. Last award season, minimal was is, only one or two accessories, while the trend in everyday fashion this year is bulking, and layering, so we will see if that plays out on the red carpet or if there is a new trend set on the carpet.

6. reasons why you should watch the G O L D E N G L O B E S. (yes another list, but needed)

It is coming, the height of Award season is beginning, The 71st annual Golden Globes, hosted by funny gal pals Amy Poehler and Tina Fey (lets hope they are as offensive this year as last year--sorry T.Swift and Tommy Lee)  Here is 6 reason why you should watch the Golden Globes:

1.Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
Do I need to go any further? Two of the strongest, most empowering, hilarious women in the entertainment industry. Even if you are not for the glitz and glam of the evening, watching this dynamic duo will be worth the watch.

2.Speeches.
They are timed, so people will be cut off and awkwardly rushed of stage. Golden Globes serves alcohol and dinner (this years chef, Suki Sugiura, has to bring it last years chef was wolf gang puck!) so after waiting for for the red carpet to end and the show to begin half of the talented guest will be a little tipsy, lets hope Jodie Foster doesn't get an award this year, that was a beautiful disaster (Love you Jodie)

3.Jennifer Lawrence will be there.
Americas sweetheart, JLaw is in American Hustle, which is nominated for a globe! Jennifer is always dressed so perfectly simple, and gives the most humble hilarious speeches and interviews

4.Miss. Golden Globe is...
Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwik. Miss (occasionally Mr.) Golden Globe is a daughter (or son) of a celebrity the HFPA (Hollywood Foriegn Press Association) choose to help hand out the awards. Sosie, 21, and is going to start becoming more active in the acting world! Break a leg Sosie!
5.Cecil B. DeMille Awards
Each year at the golden globes a prestigious award for outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment is given. last years winner was Jodie Foster. This year director Woody Allen (who is rumored not be able to make the show- Diane Keaton, will accept on his behalf) will be honored with this Golden Globe on steroids!

6. OMG moments!
We all love an "I cannot believe they just said/did" moment, and with so many creative and deserving nominees the speeches and interviews will  me sassy. the awkward moments when the presenter of a category sucks and says something out of nerves, and the red carpet dress don'ts will be the thing to watch for!

Here is the nominee list, print it off and create a ballot for a Golden Globe viewing party! -I'll post my winner the morning of!

may the odds be ever in there favor (Coldplay nominated for best original song from Hunger Games, "Atlas")
